Dennis Irwin (1951-2008)

Today would be Dennis Irwin's birthday. Celebrate by watching him in action! Not only was he great player, but a great person too. The people I've spoken with that knew him were almost reverent in their descriptions of him.

Major Holley (1924-1990)

Major Holley died on today's date back in 1990.



I personally LOVE this record. I can see how some may only be up for small doses of Holley's gravelly scat, but I dig the heck out of it. The duo record with Slam in the previous video was my first exposure to his playing and I still love this record (Slam sounds amazing too).

Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf

Dittersdorf died today in 1799. A badass with a badass name.
